My name's Sébastien Pujadas, I'm a cross-functional project manager, and in that capacity I've worked on software development and IT product creation projects since 2000. Most of these products were full-blown web applications or at the very least included a web-based component. I've also been programming on and off since the 1990's, both for business and pleasure, in a variety of languages (just to mention a few: the whole C family, PHP, Perl, assembly for electronics projects). Coming from this enterprise and general-purpose programming background, various attempts to write large-scale web applications myself led me to realise how unfitting most freely and commercially available resources are when it comes to developing professional web applications, especially as compared to the practices in the field. From what I heard, saw and read in the process, it appeared that my concern was far from unique, so I decided to write the book that I felt was missing and that I would have wanted when starting out instead of having had to discover things the hard way.
I also love writing. In the early 2000s, I worked for O'Reilly, as a rewriter, translator and co-author. More recently I wrote an e-book on electronic trust services (you can get it for free from the book's page, and you can even read it if you understand French and want to brush up on your applied cryptography).
